Overview

You can collect a single installment at any time with the Pay Financial Event quick action, without waiting for the auto-charge batch. The action is available on an installment Financial Event and only works while that event is pending.

Prerequisites

  • The Financial Event is an installment (Is_Installment__c = true, Type__c = 'Installment') and its status is Pending.
  • The Order has a balance due greater than $0.
  • The Order has a Bill To Contact.
  • The sum of the Order’s pending installments still matches the Order’s balance due. If they have drifted out of sync, payment is blocked until you revise the plan (see Revising Installments).

How to Pay an Installment Manually

1

Open the installment Financial Event

Navigate to the pending installment Financial Event you want to collect.
2

Choose a payment method

  • Select Use Existing Wallet Item to charge the saved payment method already on the installment; the payment goes through immediately.
  • Select a different payment method to be taken to the Order Payment screen to pay for the installment there.
A successful payment creates a separate Payment Financial Event and moves the installment to Succeeded. See Installment Financial Events.

Limitations and Common Pitfalls

  • The action only works on a pending installment. If the Financial Event is not an installment, or is not in the Pending status, the Pay Financial Event action does not apply.
  • The Order needs a positive balance. Payment is blocked when the Order’s balance due is $0 or less.
  • A Bill To Contact is required. The Order must have a Bill To Contact before an installment can be paid.
  • A desynced plan blocks payment. If the sum of the Order’s pending installments no longer equals the Order’s balance due, payment is blocked. Revise the installment plan to bring them back in sync, then pay.
