What This Section Covers
A Subscription Plan is the record that decides how long a subscription lasts and when it renews. Every subscription product points at a Subscription Plan, and that plan drives each term’s start and end dates plus the renewal rules. Each plan is a record of theSubscription_Plan__c object. The plan’s behavior is decided by its record type — not by a picklist field. You choose the record type when you create the plan:
- Anniversary (
FC_Anniversary) — the term lasts a fixed number of months from each subscriber’s own start date. Use it when subscribers join at different times of the year and each renewal date follows the individual join date. - Calendar (
FC_Calendar) — the term ends on a fixed month and day shared by every subscriber. Use it when everyone must line up with the same fiscal or program year.
A record type is a Salesforce feature that lets one object behave in more than one way. When you create a Subscription Plan you pick a record type, and that choice — Anniversary or Calendar — is what sets the plan’s term logic. There is no separate “type” picklist field to set.
