# Financial Period Reports

> Point the five Financial Period report fields at the Salesforce reports you want for month-end close.

The optional Financial Period Reports package adds five report-link fields to each Financial Period record. Each field is a formula field that turns into a clickable hyperlink to a standard Salesforce report, filtered to that period:

* A/R summary report
* Deposit summary report
* Detailed report
* Revenue summary report
* Write-off summary report

These give finance staff a one-click jump from a closed period straight to its accounting reports.

<Info>
  fusionCore does not post journal entries and has no debit/credit ledger of its own. A Financial Period organizes and locks the supporting financial data for an accounting timeframe so your general ledger (GL) system can import it. These reports surface that supporting data; they do not create accounting transactions.
</Info>

## Before You Start

* The Financial Period Reports package must be installed in your org. It is a separate add-on, not part of the base Commerce package.
* Each report-link field is read-only and visible only to users who have the **Financial Period Reports** permission set. Assign it to anyone who needs to see these fields.
* The five report-link fields ship **non-functional**. Each field reads a report ID from a Custom Metadata record, and those records ship empty. Until an admin pastes a report ID into each record, the field shows the literal message `Missing Report Id in Constant custom metadata record: ...` instead of a link.
* You need access to **Setup**.

## Set Up or Change a Report

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Constant Custom Metadata Type">
    Click the gear icon at the top right of the screen and choose **Setup**. In the **Quick Find** box at the top left, type **Custom Metadata Types** and click the matching result.

## Limitations and Common Pitfalls

* **Out of the box, all five fields are non-functional.** Every report-`Constant` record ships with an empty **Text Value**, so each field shows `Missing Report Id in Constant custom metadata record: ...` until you paste in a report ID. Repeat the steps above for each of the five fields.
* **The fields are read-only and gated.** Users cannot edit the report-link fields, and they are hidden unless the user has the **Financial Period Reports** permission set.
* **Use the report ID, not the full URL.** The **Text Value** field expects only the 18-character report ID copied from the address bar. Pasting extra URL text will break the link.
* **Refresh to see changes.** A populated link does not appear until you refresh the Financial Period record page.
